How I Fixed My Hunger With My Breakfast
The power of your first meal
They used to say that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Now, not so much. From intermittent fasting to a pretzel for breakfast, we treat it as an annoyance rather than a meal. We don’t have time in the morning to sit and enjoy it anymore (this makes me a bit sad).
We have different needs, and I am not here to convince you that you must eat breakfast. But if you do eat it, hear me out. I used to love a sweet breakfast, and I don’t even mean cereal and pastry (even though I did enjoy those as well), but even the healthy version of that such as oats, greek yoghurt with loads of fruit and nuts, and honey, or some protein pancakes. You get the idea.
Then, I made a change. What pushed me was that I felt hungry after 2 hours, sometimes less, even after having a big breakfast. I was reading about nutrition (Deep Nutrition by Catherine Shanahan) and also listened to some podcasts with exerts explaining the impact of high glucose levels on the body.
The simple conclusion was to eat a savory breakfast to have more stable energy levels throughout the day (I will list at the end the experts I’ve learned from).
